Your Bill
If you have received the services of a hospital or other medical facility, you may
receive two separate billing statements: one from the hospital and one from the
physician that provided the medical service. The hospital may generate a separate
billing from the physician’s bill.

The total cost for many medical services may be comprised of two fees. Each fee
may be billed separately to different entities or departments. The hospital (or
other medical facility) fee covers the cost of providing the technicians, equipment,
and any supplies involved in the performance of your medical services. The physician’s
fee is for services provided by your physician or for services by a physician for
the supervision, interpretation, and consultation with your personal physician.
The physician is an independent physician and may not be an employee of the hospital,
and therefore may bill separately for his or her professional services.
